Wifi extenders are brilliant devices that let users use the internet in an extended range. If the user wants to extend the current coverage of the WiFi, they have to install extenders. However, sometimes extenders show various issues including not connecting to the modem or not working properly. Here are few steps to follow if the WiFi extender not working.
Check the LEDs of WiFi Extender is Not Working
Lights of the WiFi extender are vital and when there is an issue, it is important to check lights first. The best combination of the extender light is:
Power LED: Green
Router link LED: Green or Orange
Client link LED: Green or Orange
If the WiFi extender has different LED combinations, here are the steps to follow.
If the power light is not off, it can be fixed by simply pressing the On/Off button.
If the router link light is red or orange, move the extender close to the modem.
If the client link light is orange or red, move the extender closer to the device. Otherwise, the connection of the device should be established on a regular home WiFi network.
After putting the device to the modem hasn’t fixed the issue, then you can go for resetting the WiFiextender.
Wait for few seconds till the Power light goes off completely.
Again press the On/Off button and wait till the Power light turn green
If the power LED doesn't turn green, plug the extender into another power source.
If the power LED turns green but still, the extender is not working, you can move to factory reset of the WiFi extender.
Factory Reset of the WiFi Extender:
To restore the extender to the factory default setting, follow these steps:
Choose the Rest button of the WiFi extender.
Use a thin stick-type object and press the tip into the factory rest button about for five to ten seconds until the power LED blinks or turns orange.
Now release the button and wait for the extender to reset. The light will turn to solid green after the resetting is finished.
Reconnect the extender to the WiFi network.
After the WiFi extender is reconnected to the home WiFi network, test the internet access by connecting another device to it.
To connect a new device to the extender, follow these steps:
Open WiFi setting or Network Manager on the device.
Look for the name of your extended WiFi network.
Select the extended WiFi network and enter the password.
Open the web browser of the device and search anything to test the connection.
If any result displays, check the original device’s connection to the WiFi extender. Then, disconnect or reconnect the device to the WiFi extender and try again.
If there is no result, then there is a problem with the WiFi extender connection with the modem.
Here is all about the steps you should take if the WiFi extender not working.
